World in Conflict mini Strategy guide for Multiplayers

World in Conflict is a really nice real time strategy game and the dateyourgames.com player had the occasion to play it a lot in Multiplayer, leading the players to ask, how did Attila alway ended up the best player of the match nearly all the time even when he was in a losing team.

Well this is what World in Conflict Strategy guide for Multiplayer will explain in a very short and effective way.

The goal of the game
World in Conflict is a objective driven game. Your goal isn’t to kill you enemies, it’s to hold the objective in order to win the match. That mean that to become the best player, you must work toward capturing and holding those objective.

This guide I will give you really contextual information that with apply or not depending of the team you are with. It is important that your team be balanced in the different role to achieve a quick victory.

The first goal you must achieve to be the best player of the match:

You must capture as many positions as possible even if that mean dividing your troops making you weak at the start. Once you have capture the position leave one or more unit on the objective circle. By leaving your troops you will build the objective defense turret. Capturing and building gives you easy and fast support point. Just by doing that you are on the good path to be the best player of the match.

Now the other aspect that you must master is to kill as many enemies as possible this is where it’s important to have a balanced team.

World in Conflict is designed so that every units have strength and weakness. You must learn those strength and weakness and ask your team to compensate for them to achieve an effective war machine. For exemple, if you use tanks, you need anti air help from the other 3 roles. If you play infantry you will need to have ally that take care of the enemies artilleries. If you play heavy helicopters you will need someone to take care of air superiority, etc.

So the most important thing in this game is to have a good diversify team with you. That also mean you must be aware of the even on the battlefield. For exemple, if you play as an heavy helicopter commander and you do a good job at it, but you see that the enemies also does a good job at it decimating you ally and holding the objectives, well it could be a really good idea to change your role to medium helicopter and insure the air superiority by hunting down those enemies helicopter.

With those quick principle established I think you should understand the core principle of this game. Now it’s time to tell some strategy I learned and that show the practical application of the core mindset of the game.

The rushing support strategy
One strategy I really like is to be a support at the start of the game. As a support I take exclusively medium anti air support and as the game start I rush to take the objectives in the centers. I think we could say that’s a little crazy to rush with AA tanks. But it’s not, we call that strategy. ;)

The enemies helicopter are the first enemies you will meet, they alway rush in hope to stop your offensives as fast as possible. By rushing with anti air weapons you will neutralize them very fast. The medium AA can also switch to incendiary bullet making them also effective against infantry and tanks. They are also very fast tanks, so it’s basically the best unit to rush and capture the objectives.

The Zerg tactic

An other really effective strategy I like is to use the cheapest tank you can get when you play as an armor commander. This allow you to use a kind of zerg tactic. With the number those tank are as powerfull as heavy tank but faster. The speed make them very effective skirmisher against the enemies support units. Since they are many they also can use a lot of smoke to cover them self from enemies helicopter if you make them deploy the smoke one after the other. That allow you to keep the enemies resource busy while the rest of you team does the job. It’s also very effective to sneak behind enemies line and hunt the very point juicy support units.

When you want to get personal
The infantry is also a role that I like a lot, the infantry can hide easily and ambush you enemies. The main challenge of the infantry of the anticipate the kind of enemies they with meet. If you do anticipate it the infantry can very easily dominate the battlefield. Against helicopters, tanks, other infantry. The only danger to your infantry is the napalm strike, gas and enemies artillery support. But if you ask me, the infantry is the best. I just wish I could be on the field with them. ;)

Keeping the sky clear so that other can do their job.
My favorite role as Air support is to play as anti air helicopter. The enemies heavy copter are very dangerous for your tank so they should alway be your first target. As for the enemies anti air helicopter they are not as important because the fact that they are not ground attack helicopter mean that they are resource the enemies won’t use against your ground forces. So by making them insure their own air superiority they will lose the ground war. So my role is to make an even fight in the sky so that the ground troops can work in peace.

Tactical Point Management
As you play well you are reward with tactical point that allow you to call very nice explosive stuff ranging from artillery to nuke. I don’t have soo much to say about that. But personnaly I tend to favor the small is beautiful approach. I never actually launched a nuke because it’s in my opinion a waste of resource for a limited effectiveness. Nuke also prevent you from moving in a specific position slowing you down. So I tend to favor contextual strike instead of huge strike. The tactical support should be use to favor your advance instead of making spectacular boom that doesn’t last long.

I think one of the important aspect of those tactical strike are to learn the timing it take for them to hit and you should alway anticipate the enemies movement to make the timing right.

One of the tactical I really like is to lead the enemies helicopter into my anti air tactical aid. You make sure you enemies follow your troops in the trap and with the right timing you can take all of them down. Very very effective.

A strategy that can be useful at time is to bomb the bridges by destroying them you force the enemies to chose an other path, or to waste resource to build a new one.

The paratrooper are also very effective weapon to capture objective behind enemies line. Never deploy them right into the objective since it’s most likely they will be defended. But if you deploy them near them you can call a powerful artillery strike and clear the objective easier.

Against the well defended objective surrounded by forest it’s most likely the enemies will have infantry in those trees, so multiple gas strike can clear the position fast so that you tank can advance on the position very quickly. without too much hidden resistance.

Well that’s it, I hope that has enlighten you on some aspect of World in conflict and gave you some idea about how I alway end up as the best player of the match. ;)

hmm you forgot the blitz strategy, i and Greatdictator used that many times. Have 4 heavy tanks and 3 medium choppers and 2 heavy choppers.
Then break into enemy deployment zone, and start blowing up the enemy artillery. I used that alot, even without air support (but thats risky) .

And then we have the frontal attack blitz. You should have 2 guys in two armor role, one guy in air role and another in the support role (with anti air), and some TA points (Tacatical Aid). The TA points is for nalpalm and heavy artillery. The rest you’ll figuer that out your self.

    See you guys in WW3 ;) .

When there are lot’s of infantry in the open it’s always nice to have a swarm of Huges 500 choppers to lay waste on them.

I disagree with this part “I never actually launched a nuke because it’s in my opinion a waste of resource for a limited effectiveness. Nuke also prevent you from moving in a specific position slowing you down.”

My best shot with nuke took of 1/2 of enemys war machine and after that I advanced with seven BMP-2 and captured last command point. We got total domination and won the match.
The radiation effects only infantry and Humwees. Armored vehicles can do what they want.

  10. Attila Says:

well i prefer preventing the enemies from moving into position in a more steady way then with a nuke that has a very limited effect in the time.

  11. Sampsa Says:

I’d also like to hear how oy guys fight against enemy’s AA-vechiles with choppers. Yeah, I know you shouldn’t fight againts them with choppers, but sometimes you are forced to do so.

You can usually win a fight agains light AA-vechiles with your H-choppers if you have one or two more than enemy has AA-vechiles. And because they shoot bullets the box formation will decrease your casulaties.

But when you are facing those damned Heavy Anti-Air vechiles you are as good as dead. When I’m operating behind enemy lines hunting down artillery units I often face from one to two HAA-unit.
When it’s 3 vs. 1 I can take those bastards head on, but when there are two it’s kinda hard.
I’m always trying to save one Hellfire - or it’s Russian counterpart - per AA-vechile. So what to do? Flares wont hold long and it no use to try evade missiles since player himself very seldom directs the fire.

  12. Attila Says:

hmm well i think the best strategy against those heavy AA is to evade them. That’s why you need ground force to clear the path. This game is designed around the idea that you need a fully balanced team. One specialization can’t win alone

  13. Sampsa Says:

    You are absolutely right.
Until now after open beta and demo I’ve fought with perfectly balanced team ONCE!
I know that you must adapt to situation to win the round, but still I’d like to hear that how you guys attack on Heavy Anti-Air vechiles when playing air.
