Flight Sims use to be a very popular type of game but over the years the number produced really was anemic. when it comes to really serious ones it’s extremely limited. But when it comes to modern Combat Flight Sims it seem that lately the reference is DCS World. This game is modern by design and free to play with a single plane for you to test out. You can fly the SU-25T and feel the good physic of the game. If you like it then you can actually buy modules or more specifically Planes that can be from extremely detailed in recreating how planes works with extremely accurate planes computer system and switchable buttons all over the cockpit that actually do something. Or you can have simpler planes as well that offer a good level of detail without going into making you a complete pilot as if it was for the real thing. So we decided to make a few videos in order to promote this game a little with the hope of reviving or stimulate the flight sims style of game to a mature public here enjoy those guides and fun moment!

Wargame European Escalation is certainly one of the most entertaining RTS we had to play since Men of War Assault Squad. With the stand alone expansion Wargame Airland Battle coming out in spring it’s only fitting to actually show how great is this game in multiplayer. For those that are not familiar with it we could compare this game as being the Arma of RTS. It’s design and game mechanic lead it to have a very realistic feel all considered while remaining kinda fast paced and enjoyable. Make sure to Check our review and multiplayer gameplay as well.

So we finally managed to finish our Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Veteran Walkthrough. It was real torture for the mind and you can hear it as we progress in each level. The purpose of this walkthrough was largely to test my audience and see if there was any remaining Call of Duty Fans out there in our subscriber. Our conclusion is that fortunately there are very few. It still remain shocking that this series keep being that popular with such a product that keep getting worse and worse without any substantial improvement to it. While each time they say “oh we totally redesigned the multiplayer” as a rule, it’s always the same still, with a few cosmetic modifications. With the production and marketing budget of Call of Duty Black Ops 2 you would just expect the series to become an exemple of what games should become but the result is far from it. Far Cry 3 is the latest addition to the series and the question is, is it really a Far Cry proper successor?

It’s a challenging question to answer since the original Far Cry was made by Crytek who now focus on making Crysis series with their own Cry Engine that started it all. So engine wise, since Far Cry 2, the feeling is different from the original Far Cry in nearly all aspect thanks to the Dunia Engine that Ubisoft developped for the game. The only thing similar is the offer of putting you in a wild wide open world with amazing graphical experience and a fast paced action that isn’t extremely realistic but entertaining none the less.

So as you may imagine this new Far Cry 3 is much closer to Far Cry 2 since it’s using the same engine, but that being said, there is very little relation with FarCry 2 story and while Farcry 3 does keep a few gameplay element of FarCry 2 the feeling, the pace, the visual and the interaction with the world all feel different.

That raise the question what is Far Cry 3 about?

Well unlike The original Far Cry and Far Cry 2 your not a Mercenary or a soldier of any kind as you start. Your an innocent White American teenager with rich parent that are living the dream of traveling in a the Pacific island that end up being taken hostage with many of his family and friend after jumping in parachute on a island plagued by pirate, drug, mercenaries, many very weird characters and a war between local native people and the unwanted invaders. In clear you end up in a place that really deserve a far cry for help.

The Weird Main Story

After escaping from the Pirates cages and losing your brother, you are saved by an ex-marine that became part of the native resistance and have the bright idea to put a magical tattoo your arm without asking your opinion about it and as a result this Far Cry 3 Tattoo will grow by itself as you unlock special abilities providing an RPG element to this fps shooter game. So as you can notice right away, the game gets kinda wierd very early on and it gets from weird to very weird. You will meet up plenty of strange character including, a psychopath pirate leader, a drugged doctor that is constantly stone, a leader of the native people that drug you constantly, a questionable CIA agent, a creepy guy that follow you arround and is likely a pervert, a crazy undercover agent that fool people for being a german mercenary and so on. So in clear the story of Far Cry 3 is funny, well acted and extremely well executed with great psychedelic moment. It’s really enjoyable for the first run at it no question about that.

Far Cry 3 an open World to Explore?
While the main story is a great fun Far Cry 3 open world has to offer many smaller scale experience that make the gameplay evolve into many smaller games that can result in facilitating your experience. So you can climb many radio tower to reveal map part with the content that you can loot around it. You can clear small Pirates and Mercenaries camp that then get claimed by the native and these will allow you to fast travel to a location and rearm yourself there. You can play poker, do many small side missions, some weapons challenge with high score shared with your friends. There are also many items to find around the huge map that will give you experience as a result as well as a limited story around the object that may interest a few peoples. There is also a wide variety of random event and encounter as you move around the map that can be entertaining in some occasion.

Are Side mission that important?

That being said you are under no obligation to play the side missions and if you actually finish the game story, there is very little interest in continuing to explore the world. The more enemy camp you clear, the less enemies you will find. The random items don’t really provide much information worth searching for. The random encounter become quickly meaningless because of an AI that aim very badly and a stealth system that is over generous toward the player independently of the difficulty level. So in clear. Far Cry 3 offer an amazingly big environment, that doesn’t provide much long terms entertainment once you getting out of the main story. Some people may compare it to a first person shooter skyrim experience but it’s certainly doesn’t have the dept or the story that skyrim provide around the main quest. This mean that other then the main story you will mostly have to create your own form of entertainment if you want to continue to play with the same character, because it’s a game design in a way where, the more stuff you do, the less stuff there is to do or the more worthless the remaining stuff that you can do is.

Can you finally feed you hunter ambitions?

Far Cry 3 also offered a lot of attention around the wild life on the island and many people ended up dreaming about random encounter with Tigers, Sharks and all these very dangerous creatures. Well Far Cry 3 does offer some good Hunting and Wild life can end up offering some originally fun moment. At the same time wild life is extremely common all over the place. As a result by the end of the game seing a Tiger won’t be much of a excitement and killing an animal becomes quickly banal experience even when you don’t really need to kill them. The only need for killing animal is to make bags and that kind of stuff that allow you to have more weapons ammo and that kind of stuff and kinda raise the question about why can’t you buy these instead of having to feel like a psychopath killing everything that move to skin them with a huge machete that make you feel like a savage from the stone age.

Is it all about money in a pirate infested island?
Speaking of buying something, as you move arround you find money in random box and you can loot dead bodies to find a wide variety of items that you can then sell. While it could be an enjoyable experience to loot the entire place, you rarely find much money and most items you find have no physical representation or use in the world other then being sold for very little money. As a result looting dead body is time consuming and doesn’t pay of much but even if it did pay more the result would not change much to the gameplay of Far Cry 3 since nearly all items get unlocked by the story, the money then become a very limited way to improve the guns or buy special guns. For the most part it’s to buy a good ammo refill and maybe some map part for convenience not that you really need it. In the and the economic element of Far Cry 3 is extremely limited and without much value compare to the time it may take you accumulate the amount that could help you. As a result you may very well no longer bother to search for money toward the end since it’s not particularly usefull once you have the loadout you like.

In the End is it worth it?!?
To conclude, ahhh Far Cry 3 Far Cry 3 Far Cry 3… It’s a game with an amazing technology that provide a very well design gameplay that offer very entertaining moment fill with a great randomness. The Main story is very well executed with very good characters development. While offering an open world the fun element remain focus on the linear experience of the main story and while side missions are present they are rarely worth exploring other then for a few more xp point that you can live very well without. Far Cry 3 is a game that is worth getting if you want an entertaining singleplayer experience but once you are done with the main story the interest fade away quickly. Fortunatly at 49$ at release it’s reasonably priced compare to more expensive fps that cost more, if you download Far Cry 3 it’s 10 gig, so it may be worth it to get it on DVD if you have a slow internet other wise Steam is a fine way to download Far Cry 3 from online purchase.

Note concerning the Multiplayer and Coop:
The game use Uplay a practical system when it comes to keep up to date you games and is fairly similar in term of functionality with Steam, raising the question, why do we need that? The game also use ports used by servers that should NEVER be used by GAMES, so I’m literally unable to even try multiplayer. This is a MAJOR and very BAD game breaking element of this game that simply can’t be justified and probably explain how dead are Ubisoft games in multiplayer on PC. Ubisoft is an amazingly talented company that keep messing up the Multiplayer element of it’s games on PC and Far Cry 3 for PC once again didn’t fail at frustrating me on that aspect. Far Cry 3 for xbox 360 and on play station 3 network may not have that issue, but farcry 3 on PC could have easily avoided that by allowing to choose custom port of using a tunneling system.

With Arma 3 coming out this year we decided to take a look at the latest DLC of Arma 2 that remain a pretty versatile game even for it’s age. So this DLC put you in the shoes of Czech Republic soldiers in charge of chasing down some War Criminal in a fictive country. Sadly the DLC is singleplayer online and there is no “lite” version like the previous DLC. It’s also usually disable by the different community launchers for somereason. This mean that you don’t have any mod nearly working with this DLC as far as we know. When it came out the first mission was bug and we were unable to even finish the first missions. Fortunately they fixed all this since and you can now see the result of the first mission of the DLC here.

X-Com Enemy Unknown was a game that had high expectations from a large amount of player that were used to the original games. While many of those gamers were disappointed by the resulting game X-Com Enemy Unknown remain in our opinion one of the smoothest experience of that type of game there is. The game design and the smoothness of the controls is extremely well done. The music and environment are superb and manage to do the job just fine. The main downside to this game is that it’s soo well designed that it’s a little simplistic and this is largely due to the release of this game on consoles. So the game isn’t particularly hard when you understand how it work and when it is hard it’s usually hard for the wrong reasons and can be unfair beyond belief. Also there is a large diversity of map included in the game, but once you do finish the game, on your second try you will quickly realize how extremely repetitive this game can be. For these reason this game actually has a pretty poor re playability and that’s a shame. None the less you can see our complete campaign here for you enjoyment, it’s really cinematic!

Borderlands 1 was strongly acclaimed by critic when it originally came out. So we decided to take a look at it in coop multiplayer. While the game visual style is original and the RPG element innovative for a first person shooter. We were globally disappointed at it especially in coop. The RPG coop experience get broken as soon a one of the player you play with continu to play without the others. Creating unkillable enemies and that kinda of ruining experience. This is why we created this “vague” Borderlands PC Walkthrough Coop playthrough in HD that didn’t really aim at showing you guys the entire story but more too show some good time we had before the fun was already over.

Max Payne 3 is one of the rare game released recently where the story is actually good, intense, funny and dark like a good movie. We started making a Walkthrough of it but ended up playing too much multiplayer for our own good. This is a really entertaining game and one of the best 3rd person shooter available. While the multiplayer was really unbalanced for a long time it’s a very simple and effective experience. check it out!

Warhammer 40,000 Spacemarine is a game that really didn’t attracted us when it originally came out. Our perception was that it was a game that was all about blood and gore, free violence, brutal fight for no reason and that kind of things. Turned out that it’s exactly the case… but it’s actually SUPER FUN… We guess Warhammer 40,000 Spacemarine is an example of how brutal action can be achieved without being necessary distasteful and free. The game is very intense and challenging and most of the horrible things you do to those poor orc serve a purpose. Warhammer 40,000 Spacemarine doesn’t apologize for it’s violence and truly embrace it leading the player to actually enjoy it like by magic independently of your moral position about violence in video games. Mount & Blade Warband Napoleonic War Shortest Siege Round? is a video that show a extremely short siege round where it’s likely that 1 or 2 of the attacking team actually manage to sneak into the fort and capture the flag while all the rest of the team was just doing their thing leading to one of the shortest round of Mount & blade I Saw.

Iron Front: Liberation 1944 Multiplayer Gameplay 1 is showing a portion of a round of multiplayer where both side need to capture and hold different positions on the différent maps. As you can see in this video There isn’t much action in that mode but on the other hand. Social interaction compensate.

8 months ago I showed you some battle of Starfarer. Since then it has evolved with a new campaign layer very similar to Mount & Blade. You start up with small ships and then end up with a big fleets after hours and hours of playing. Right now there is only one solar system available and a couple factions and ships available as well. Each of those ship can be customized to your liking. So while it’s an alpha still the game is taking shape and look promising.

This video actually feature a mission that was added to Men of War Assault Squad last Christmas. It’s a kind of easter egg i guess where you face a horde of Snowmen. Of course in the face of so many Snowmen all the faction available in the game unite to fight these creation from a Evil Scientist. Overall it’s a fairly easy mission to achieve and it can be quite a lot of fun to play in coop with people that don’t expect it.

Mass Effect 3 Fall of Earth Multiplayer Special Forces Coop Gameplay Demo Short Review show one of my early attempt at mass effect coop while i was alone… So I don’t really know much about the game features since I’m not a super hardcore follower of this series so take it for what it is. I used the vanguard character with the Customizable Arsenal and i took the shotgun with a sniper.

Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead – Damn Sniper show an intense portion of a game we played recently. The goal of the mission was to clear an enemy artillery position. The objective was largely achieved by an airstrike very early on. That airstrike on the other hand was way too close to civilian population and out of concern for the population we went down to the village. While doing so we became under fire from a sniper that had survived the airstrike. Having now clue where the sniper was we had to rush forward. A few of us were hit and required medical attention on the way. But we finally managed to reach the village and neutralize the sniper. We were using ACE and ACRE and this video is an other epic moment of Arma 2 OA used in Combined Operation. Where 1 sniper can keep a group of players pinned down as oppose to a few players taking out an entire army.

A couple days ago Oneah bought me Shogun 2 Total War Rise of Samurai and you should all thanks him for this this gameplay video. It’s a little different from regular Shogun 2 Total War but overall it’s pretty much the same.

Retro Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare! is a kind of nostalgia video of the Call of Duty game I enjoyed the most. It’s clear that now everybody knows Call of Duty, but I have a hard time enjoying the latess versions of them. So I tryed this old one again to figure out if I hallucinated liking it. Turn out I’m still liking the feel of it.

Now that doesn’t mean I plan to go back to playing this game but it’s interesting to see how I like the feel of it even now and yet very much dislike the feel of newer Call of Duty games. If anybody has an idea of an explanation go ahead!

Finally… here is some Arma 2 Combined Operation Coop Gameplay. Sorry for starving my subscriber for like 3 months of this essential game that we naturally go back to after to a few hours of distraction in more commercial game to realize once again, that Arma 2 is the best game ever…

The objective of this mission was to Kill a Warlord.
