Arma - Combat Operation / Armed Assault

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Here is some gameplay of Arma in single player, this missions isn’t really hard depending the role you choose to play, being a support is probably the hard one but what is really cool about this game is the scale of the battlefield and the diversity of tactic you can use to achieve victory.

Rainbow Six Vegas - Presidio

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

It’s been a long time since I posted a Rainbow Six Vegas Video, but Ubisoft released a map pack, So I guess I will make a Walkthrough of the new maps. This Presidio map is actually base on an older map of the series so it was a familiar place for me. It end after a long cat and mouse chase around the map when I finally find the last terrorist.

Age of Empires 3 Review!

Friday, July 27th, 2007

In this review, I will be covering Age of Empires 3, and its expansion, the War Chiefs. Like my GalCiv2 review, I will be discussing the overall difficulty of the games, the graphic level, the playability, the differing strategies within the game, re-playability, the system specs, and the flexibility a player has.

Overall difficulty of the game (5/5)- This game is great when it comes to being for everyone. For campaigns, there are the typical easy, medium, and hard. However, when a skirmish is set up, the CPU difficulty can go from sandbox (very easy), easy, moderate, hard, and expert (very hard).

Graphic level (5/5)- The graphics, like the difficulty settings, has something for every system. You don’t need a super special awesome computer to play this game, but if you want the graphics at very high, you better have a good enough system for it. The graphics can get breathtaking in this game, but if you don’t have the system for it, stick to the lower levels.

Playability (4/5)(How well a new player can pick it up and go)

This is where these games lack a bit. There is a very, very short tutorial, and only teaches you the very basics of the game, like how to move, make a settler and attack. Depending on the player, it could take quite a bit to get used to this game.

Differing strategies (4/5)- This game has 3 main strategies. Rushing, Booming, and Turtling. Rushing is where you rush the enemy with whatever military you have very early in the game. It is best countered by a turtle. Booming is where you build a massive economy before you attack, and is best countered by a rush. Turtling is where you build a massive defense, most do not attack when they turtle. Booming is the best way to counter a turtle, as they do not attack you, leaving you wide open to build your economy.

Re-playability (4/5)- This game, although fun, will get old after a while. However, it does have the online feature which keeps it interesting. With the online feature though, if you get good, and your skill level hits 25+, you have to play a game a week to keep your skill there, so you have to keep playing to keep your rank that high, whether you want to or not.

Systems Check (5/5)- This game will run well on most systems made these days, but again there are the few exceptions. The specs are…XP or Vista, 256 MB RAM, 1.4 GHz Processor, 64 MB video card with hardware transformation and lighting capability.

Flexibility (3/5)- This game doesn’t have a great amount of flexibility for the players. With only three main strategies, an arsenal with upgrades that become obsolete very quickly, and 3 possible upgrades for each unit, there isn’t a whole lot to mess around with.

Goldenhero’s overall rating-(4.3/5) Good Game!

World In Conflict

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

Here is an interesting game. It started good for me, but bad globally for the team. We didn’t have many troops to capture the objectives. So we basically killed many enemies but were slowly winning, that lead me to change specialty and take armours to capture all that, turned out my team had woke up. So I didn’t have much more to do then making skirmish stuff against the enemies. What I did good. We won but the start wasn’t really good…

Introducing: The Dateyourgame Clan?

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

If this hasn’t already been thought of or posted then well here it goes. I think we should start a gaming clan. Not just based in one game because that’s not what DYG is about. WIC, BF2, F.E.A.R. ArmA, etc. anything you can have a clan in. If you want to be in it…simply put [DYG] in your name. This will attract more gamers and help us recognize each other. I’ve already put it in my name in WIC. Let me know on anything I’m missing, also post a comment stating your gaming info:

In-game name:
Games:
Clans:
(anything else you want to put i.e. ts/vent server, etc.)

Arma Combat Operation Dawn of the Yomie Zombies

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

I have Arma Combat Operation (Arma Armed Assault in Europe) since a couple of days now. It’s a kind of War simulation shooter. It’s very realistic. But what can be better then turn a simulation game into some funny zombie hunting fun.

This is a video I created base on a missions that took me 2 min to create thanks to the Dawn of the Yomies template. It’s a mod that allows you to create zombie missions. The guns have moded sound from FDF_Sounds mod, mixed with some of the sound I like. The music comes from the games music. This Dawn of the Yomie Zombies end up with my Death. :D

Enjoy. :)

Logo, and Advancement of Dateyourgame.

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Well as I was sitting on a roof gently holding my rifle, finger on trigger, target walking into trap…and as i get a headshot…I zone out and think about dateyourgame.com. I was thinking Attila should choose the logo then put it on our website banner and then someone photoshop and make us a banner. I was also thinking..maybe we should advertise? To grow some more? If we could all chip in and donate money to Attila, I’m sure we would grow into a bigger, better community. If we link to other sites or even put the link to this site in your signature at the forums you visit all the time…or simply spread the word to your friends and family about this site. What are your thoughts?

note- This post is very messy because I was in a rush and didn’t have time to fix anything so sorry :P

World In Conflict

Monday, July 16th, 2007

World in Conflict once again. I think that will be the World in Conflict week… In this video you can see me using my Cobra helicopter to maintain air superiority. The interesting aspect of those helicopter is that they don’t give much support against ground troops but they allow you to maintain air superiority. By maintaining the air superiority you force the enemies to try to take it back by using more anti air units. Those anti air units mobilizing resource and allow your ground force to gain the upper hand without having to fear the enemies helicopters.

Here is the part two

World In Conflict

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

Today a little more World in conflict in this video you can see helicopter in action, it’s really important to have a good air support in this game because your ground force won’t last long. You can also notice a Nuke ;)

World In Conflict - My first game

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Lately I have been trying World in Conflict. It’s a Cold War RTS that pose the question What if the cold war had gone hot. I must say I’m hard to impresse when it comes to RTS, but this game is a nice evolution. Basically they took away all the ressource management that basically all RTS have and put you in charge of a more credible pre build army that provide your the supply and equipment.

The goal of this game is to control objectives with your forces. To control a zone you must occupied all the objectives at the same time. The faction that control the most zone gain advantage over the other faction and when the time is over the faction that have olded zones the longest win.

So here was my first game, I was an infantry commander. I could have been a Tank, Air, or Support commander. My team and I were new and the enemies base on there ranks were not, but I still putted out a good fight.

Xbox 360, Playstation 3 (PS3), WII and PC a point of view

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Today I Was ask an interesting question.

Question
Which console do you prefer, the Xbox 360 is very unstable and the Wii is for kids, and the PS3 has a few number of games?

My answer is

Well the Wii is interesting, because it has games you won’t see on a PC.

As for Xbox and PS3 they have game similar to PC with half the quality of PC games.

If they didn’t existed PC gaming would have far better game then we are currently stuck with because there would be more brain, thinker, designer, worker working on a “universally” generalized console that every one has at home, making those game more accessible instead of being restricted to a small hardware compose of computer hardware that is prohibited of reaching his full potential by being lock in a very restricted operational system. Consoles are a plague that limit human imagination by imposing hardware limitation.
(I heard countless designer saying that on xbox they were limited by the hardware all those years)

This is confirm by comparing the concept of Halo 1 in 1999 and looking at the resulting Halo one… it’s really a depressing experience. Halo 1 and 2 don’t reach 1/3 of the potential announced for the Mac and PC version of Halo back in 1999.

Now instead of Having totally open environment we are still jam in terribly linear level.
Halo: Combat Evolved has a good name for what it is.
With the concept of 1999, Halo: Combat Revolution would have been a more accurate name.

Now the only hope of finally getting rid of this console imposed linearity is Crysis a PC exclusive video game. But still it probably will be linear with a lot of space between the walls.

We are still waiting for that Halo Ring where you could walk around every foot of it in 1999 making Oblivion lot like a baby game (Oblivion really use a map system similar to the Halo concept of 1999).

Console made us waste 7 years of video game evolution. The game that we now see appear on next gen console are game that could have emerge on PC in 2000-2005.

In conclusion, my definite choice since 1999 is the PC console since I don’t want to finance half games that don’t reach the full potential they have because of hardware limitation.

Now I’m curious what would be your answer to this question?

Sunday, July 1st, 2007
