Halo: Combat Evolved originally developed by Bungie Studios since before 1999. And ported to PC by Gearbox Software. Halo Custom Edition was released by Gearbox as an unsupported add-on, which requires the original game license and CD to be play.
The Gameplay
The game itself actually has no new storyline and is by default exclusively multiplayer. So we could say it has the same background story and environment as the original Halo Combat Evolved. But concentrate itself exclusively on the multiplayer side on the game.
Since Halo CE have the same multiplayer level as the original Halo PC. The longevity of the expansion was many base on the capacity of the player to create their own maps and sharing them with others. In context, you may find what player produce that can either amazing new gameplay experience or environment. However, other new contend can sometimes can be of poor quality.
Maps and map creation
So the main interest of Halo CE is the opportunity for the community to modify the game. And so far some players have created their own coop online maps for players across the world to join in with, where 1-16 players can enjoy a battle and solve puzzles against fierce AI, this is a truly amazing aspect to the game that was largely missing in the original Halo PC.
The moding aspect of the game
One thing that people must know about making contends for Halo CE is that creation can be very hard for beginners. However if you are a confident 3D mapper who knows what you do then you can produce some very good content. But note that to fully be able you will need to use four main Mapping tools are as follows. 3dsmax and gmax are 3 dimensional mapping software that can be used for level terrain creation in Halo CE. The software Tool is an importing, exporting, converting, Lightmapping, and map modding machine. Tool runs from a command prompt window and certain commands will do certain things to certain files. Depending on the command OFC. The other main software you will need to use is Sapien. This is a program for creating level AI, Weapon placement, placement of special scenery and vehicles etc. In clear every things that populate the map changing it from terrain to a battlefield. Finally Guerilla is the tag editing program, with this you can change the way master chief looks, change warthog skins, create and edit tags to build custom weapons and vehicles. Overall the moding of Halo CE is amazing. If you know what your doing you can create quality maps. But it can be confusing in the beginning.
The main problems we see in this game are probably that the skill of player playing Halo CE is very varied. There are some cheaters that are not fight well by the game anti cheating system.
But overall the game pace, not too fast or slow, not too confusing yet not too boring. You can really play Halo CE for hours on end seriously.
