Rome Total War Roma episode 13-14

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Episode 13: I continue my advance vs the Carthaginians because they’re one of the easiest factions to beat with Romans. I’m not so good with phalanx units, so that explains my loss.

Episode 14: This is one of the biggest battles I’ve fought till now vs the Numidians, the Numidian power lies in numbers and speed, but their units are weak and don’t have good morale (except their imitation legionaries). So you can kill them easily with enough missile and cavalry units. I haven’t used much tactics, I ran around with my cavalry and let my missile units fire upon their weak missile units, and I have infantry ready in case they come to close to my missile units. I’m proud of the deaths/killed result :D , even if I say so myself.

In the rest of the campaign, I’ve conquered some of the Gallic cities in northern Italy. The Illryans are defeated, I’m advancing on Macedons northern towns and I have conquered Corinth => I’m laying siege on Sparta, if all goes well I shall record how the last Spartans fall against Roman might :P Carthage has been driven to regions in the Sahara desert and aren’t posing a threat anymore so I’ll concentrate on the Numidians. The Marius reformation has also happened so now I’ll have Roman legionaries in my armies. But the end is coming I only need to conquer 6 more cities and I’m victorious, then I’m gonna quit till summer vacation to make new vids, gotta concentrate on my studies, big exams coming.

Rome Total War Chronicles of Roma episode 11-12

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Episode 11: Here I fight the Carthaginian army in Sardinia, I was lucky it was in Sardinian woodland, I hid my cavalry far in the woods and used them to kill the enemy general and demoralize their army.

Episode 12: Here I attacked the Macedonian capital of Corinth, They had a big army there, but it was weakend after a battle near Sparta with the greek cities. The enemy have 2 armies.

The advance against Carthage went more smoothly then I expected, they lost 4 of their african cities while I had only send two armies there. In the war against the Macedonians I’m beginning to get the upperhand, and I haven’t much progress yet against the Gauls.

Rome Total War Chronicles of Roma episode 10

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

In this episode I attack the Carthaginians, it was a chaotic battle so sorry if I zoomed out too much. The end is also missing (i won the battle), had some problems with Windows Movie Maker. I was besieging the city Carthago and then this Carthaginian army shows up. The Carthaginian elephants are powerful against any other unit (certainly cavalry) then spear units, that’s why I had to sent my triarii to fight them. 657 Romans, 903 Carthaginians, 817 killed, 491 deaths.

I’m expanding more in the Carthaginian lands now, the Gauls aren’t opposing a real threat, they attack and lose every time, the Macedonians though were able to retake some ground in Greece, just because I couldn’t retrain my units there yet.

Rome Total War Chronicles of Roma episode 8-9

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

Episode 8: The Romans are advancing on the Illryan front and I’ve brought some siege weapons with me :D ,no not medieval catapults, but Roman balistas and scorpions. Here u can see that Scorpions are the best against enemy infantry: they reload faster and have more accuracy then balistas, while balistas are more powerful for destroying enemy buildings. The enemy have 2 armies, the first is a general unit, the second is also a general but he has an army of 300 men.

Episode 9: Here I’m defending the settlement of Arretium from the Gauls, but their spies have opened the gates so the barbarians didn’t need their siege equipment. I used the close in tactic, I just surrounded the Gauls so that they would be stuck near the gate, if the enemy army is really big, your towers also fire at them; I always had my cavalry ready for if there should’ve existed a gap.

I’m at war with everyone who surrounds me now meaning Illryans, Macedonians, Gauls, Carthaginians. I’ve got entire Sicily under my control now and Malta. I had some problem with the huge fleets of Carthage, but I allied with the Iberians who are also at war with the Gauls and Carthaginians and they’ve come to rescue me from those fleets :D . The Macedonian kingdom is falling very hard, they’re also at war with everyone who surrounds them, ah well better for me :D .

I’m gonna slow down with the chronicles, tomorrow I depart for 3 days on holiday, next school starts again. :(
Meaning I can be less on the PC and I can make less chronicles.

Rome Total War - Roma - Episode 6-7

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

Episode 6: I’m at war with the Macedonians and I attack their huge city of Pella. I know that it was stupid to build a ram and move my missile units in front of the walls (had to get rid of those greek peltasts). I had to kill a lot (the battle took me half an hour, forgot to press the speed button once and a while) so sorry if the video jumps from here to there.

Episode 7: Another battle against the Greeks, their coming out of the gates of their last city in Sicily. I have two armies on each side of the city, the weakest is controlled by me and my other stronger by the AI (stupid of me :P ). Also cutted in this one, it was 25 min (have to press the speed button more).

I’m now also at war with the Illiryans but they do not suppose a great threat. The Gauls are having trouble fighting the Iberians, the Iberians have a part of France and entire Spain, meaning they had also beaten the Carthaginians, so the Gauls aren’t planning to attack me. The Carthaginians are at war with Numidia and Iberians, they’re not winning or losing, but the good thing is they aren’t assembling an army to attack me.

Rome Total War - Roma - Episode 4-5

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

The 2 battles are battles defending a city.

Episode 4: In this episode the romans have to defend Appolonia (which they had conquered after many battles) from the Greeks. They had 2 small phalanx armies but my armies were also small, because you can’t directly retrain your armies after a battle in RTR. I defeated them by closing them in.

Episode 5: 244 BC (forgot to put the date on the video :P ) The Gauls attacked me suddenly I didn’t expect this, but their army wasn’t too powerful. At the end they asked for a ceasefire, and I thought barbarians had some honor :D

In my campaign I’m now a decenia further but I hadn’t had any enjoyable battles, some were to easy, others to hard. The Macedonians who were my allies betrayed me :( so the wars will probably continue in Greek lands. I’ve also conquered 2 Greek cities in Sicily, one more to go there :D hmm but then I will border Carthage and maybe start the Punic wars.

Rome Total War - Roma - Episode 2-3

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

Here’s episode 2-3 of the Roma vs Greek chronicles. I call it the Greek wars. Episode 2: here I try to take Tarentum (the heel of Italy) Lost the battle because of the time limit :( and I took it afterwards with an auto battle :D .

In episode 3 I try to take Apollonia because it only had a hundred men left after a great battle between Greeks and Illryans and in the tip of Italy there were +/- 1000 men also Appolonia was a very rich city, certainly for sea trade with Italy. Unfotunatly the greeks had an reinforcement army. But they weren’t so strong and stupid: If they had surrounded me by there cavalry they would’ve won.

From now I’m not gonna make a chronicles every ten years (RTW time) it takes to much time and I my dad says I’m uploading to much :D so I’ll show you only the important battles (should be +-2 greek wars, and then Peloponisian or Gallic or Illryan or Macedonian wars :D In RTW you never know who you’ll fight against first.

Rome Total War - Roma - episode 1

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

I’ve begun making some chronicles of the Roman Wars, in Rome Total War, now that Attila has stopped :D , I just downloaded RTR, I play it on medium because I didn’t know what to expect of the game mod, or how difficult it is, turned out not so hard. :P
