I am doing more and more battles because i want to practice and be a better player. Till a few days ago i thought that i was a good RTW player, but on my first online battle i took a hell of a beating that i will never forget, i got some experience dow and next time it will be harder for my opponent to win. I will not post all my videos on the blog. If you want to see more just go on my youtube channel underground94teo.
This is my first video that i used movie_cam in, so please excuse me if i am a n00b with the camera movement. The clip is from Rome - Total War V1.5. To enable the movie cam you need to go to the game’s shortcut on you desktop and select properties and on the command line just type -movie_cam ex: Target: “C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War” -movie_cam. Why did i put the video on Dateyourgame? Well, i want more people to see the game, and maybe more will try it. Because of Attila’s videos i found out about Rome - Total War and Medieval II Total War.What I like allot about my video is the camera movement and the music, i love Enya.I will not post all my videos on the blog, if you like the ones that you see here you will find more on YouTube, where my nick is underground94teo.
Here is a compilation of games in one video, Rome Total War, Star Wars Republic Commando Settlers Heritage of Kings Mount and Blade with the mod 300.
Ok this was my first try at the campaign in Alexander the difficulty was hard/hard
I say in the first couple of minutes Persia came to Greece the a plague came kill half my people the barbarians from northern greece came took my capital put i got it back any you only have 100 turns to take all the city on the map it is very hard well this is how far i got before getting defeated enjoy.
In August 16, 2006 I had put a video that really have receive a lot of comments since then, this video show my Roman army fighting Egypt’s army. After defeating 1 really strong army my troops engage two more armies. The video cut in the critical moment where the following move will mean either a victory or a defeat. So this goal of that video is to guess how it ended?
There has been many theories on the ending and it is really hard to figure out. Just think of all insane number of close victory I have show in the past. But on the other hand it’s hard to believe that my army could recover from the elephant attacks. So tell us your theories on the subject, if it’s not already done.
Once you have tell your theories, tell me if I should reveal how it ended or keep it secret to leave it to your imagination. ![]()
After days of working (hard
), drinking sprite and root beer constantly, and using the restroom at least 50 times a day, I finally finished the video! A big thanks goes to the DYG Community and everyone that contributed! If you were not in the video well next time we do something like this be sure to sign up.
If i spelled your name wrong or you didn’t like the music on your clip I’m sorry.
Can’t please everyone. Anyways without further or do I give you..
THE DYG COLLABORATION VIDEO
Today Saint Lucas pointed out that the Total War blog will have a community award thing you can see it there http://blogs.sega-europe.com/blogs/totalwar/entry/20070615
Saint Nicholas proposed to nominate me for “the Outstanding Achievement Award.”
“For a site or an individual who has made an unrivaled contribution to the Total War community.”
In all humility my (over) 400 Total War video seem to fit as “an unrivaled contribution to the Total War community.”
I must say I don’t even know if anyone at SEGA or Creative Assembly have a single Idea that I exist.
So now it’s time to ask yourself what you can do for me after I entertained you for a year?
Well just go to the previously posted link and tell SEGA and Creative Assembly by leaving a comment that they should nominate Attila! Tell them why they should And where to find me. Do that in great number this way they won’t be able to ignore us as in great part member of the Total War community (even if I’m currently on a break from it).
You can also tell them there if you a member of the total war community forum, http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic/18110/t/Total-War-Community-Awards.html
Thanks for believing in my work and that’s a good way to prove it!
Now to those that don’t remember here is what I did:
Rome Total War Carthage 87 episodes
German Chronicle 76 episodes
Sicilian Chronicles 17 episodes
Polish Chronicles 33 episodes
Turkish Chronicles 45 episodes
Holy Roman Empire chronicles 17 episodes
And I skip the independant ones.
Globally my videos were saw 2 248 561 time. So thanks every one for the great success.
Here is a small video i did to encourage my youtube community to do the same ![]()
Here is a Rome Total War movie I made using the Lord of the Rings mod. I have tried to demonstate the level of detail that has gone into this mod as best I can.
This is probably the best mod I have ever played and I would urge anyone who can to download it.
LOTRTW can be downloaded from
www.lotrtw.com
By popular demand, another patch will be coming out soon for this mod that will improve the campaign mod and make the mod accessible for more players.
Enjoy and leave feedback.
Hello every one,
As you all know making all those videos as regularly as I did is a lot of work and energy, not to speak of learning. I really like to do it but it’s hard to keep going without any money. So personally. I had hoped to turn that into a self sustained job and so far I used soft way to make very little money. So I added a donation button as soon as I started this blog. So far I had no donation.
So now I think I found a new way to help you help me. I created an online Store where you will be able to buy video games, books, movie, hardware, in the USA and UK.
When you will buy for that store I will get a small part of the price as a reward to help you buy a video game or anything else. You then receive what you bought and at the same time encouraged me to continue and give me the money to improve the quality of the content.
So I would like you guys to take a look and tell me what you think, and more then all, tell me what you would add to the list of stuff you guys would like to buy to help me.
As for Medieval II Total War Kingdom Chronicles, as you all know I’m a big fan of Total War. I created over 400 video of that series and I think it’s really point less to create any more video of Total War. Just make a small search about Total war on youtube and you will see that it’s page and page of my videos. First of all having that many videos is unfair for any one else wanting to share videos on youtube with other like I did and having to make his way against my 400 videos isn’t easy. (Good luck). The second thing, some of my videos were not saw as many times as the number of people that have subscribe to me. That mean there is a lot of content that people didn’t learned from all that because my video compete against my own video. So what is the point of making new one when there is still unexplored gem that can’t be see because of the colossal scale of what I did?
Now I do know as a fact that many people would like more Chronicles especially of Kingdom. So since I have no money to buy it. Well here is a chance for the community to do something for itself. If people make enough donations to the cause, I will buy the expansion with the money from donations and also use to finance one chronicles. (By one I mean one series that will be democratically chosen.)
If you consider it 5$ (or more) isn’t much individually but collectively it does make a difference. Not to speak about all the knowledge it gives the viewer.
So I hope you will use those different way I give you to encourage this community to create greater content that will interest you more every time since all the money I will get will be reinvested into this community. ![]()
Here is a battle I did against the senate; from that point in the campaign I included some Campaign game play since people were asking for contextual information.
This battle is a kind of assassination mission against the senate. Considering the senate has 9 star commanders, and many many body guards. I had to fight this menace to advance on the Scipii territory. So in the battle I used all my cavalry to kill as many generals as I could with light cavalry. I kill 4 of them and as you can see that was challenging. Then Senate unit are far more developed then the other Roman faction and my light infantry doesn’t last long against those. So as soon as my assassination thing was done, I pulled back with many casualties indeed, but with an enemy far weaker in leadership.
Episode 13: I continue my advance vs the Carthaginians because they’re one of the easiest factions to beat with Romans. I’m not so good with phalanx units, so that explains my loss.
Episode 14: This is one of the biggest battles I’ve fought till now vs the Numidians, the Numidian power lies in numbers and speed, but their units are weak and don’t have good morale (except their imitation legionaries). So you can kill them easily with enough missile and cavalry units. I haven’t used much tactics, I ran around with my cavalry and let my missile units fire upon their weak missile units, and I have infantry ready in case they come to close to my missile units. I’m proud of the deaths/killed result
, even if I say so myself.
In the rest of the campaign, I’ve conquered some of the Gallic cities in northern Italy. The Illryans are defeated, I’m advancing on Macedons northern towns and I have conquered Corinth => I’m laying siege on Sparta, if all goes well I shall record how the last Spartans fall against Roman might
Carthage has been driven to regions in the Sahara desert and aren’t posing a threat anymore so I’ll concentrate on the Numidians. The Marius reformation has also happened so now I’ll have Roman legionaries in my armies. But the end is coming I only need to conquer 6 more cities and I’m victorious, then I’m gonna quit till summer vacation to make new vids, gotta concentrate on my studies, big exams coming.
Here is a good example of a good use of infantry and cavalry for siege. Personally I don’t recommend using cavalry in a city but in that case it proved to be very effective. As you can see I enter the city and secure my beach head into the city. After some fighting I start advancing. I send my cavalry on the Left as my infantry core attack from the center. Ultimately that proved very useful since the Romans had 4 general body guard units. I divided them and was able to destroy them when they were divided. The victory was clear once I charged the faction leader from the back with my cavalry, eliminating the main menace against my troops. I lost one general in that battle but since the enemy lost 4, it was a fair share.
This battle is my landing in Italy. As you can see once again I have a big cavalry force. With that cavalry I move around attack the enemies on many front and rout them really fast.
Enjoy the Hunt ![]()
This siege is the first battle in the war against the Gauls. (They started it). Since I was without doubt totally outnumbered. This forced me to use a feature of Rome Total War and a little tactic. So I deployed my infantry in the town center this way they would not rout. Once my forces were engage, I ordered my cavalry that was in a secure place to attack from the back. It was really risky but my attack from behind created a totally routing of the Gauls army is only a few light cavalry lost.
In this battle you can see how the cavalry superiority can make a huge difference even with light cavalry. With my cavalry I destroy the enemy cavalry at first, and isolated the enemy general and kill him. The interesting this to note is how many dead Libyan spearman I lost against the Hastati. It just shows how bad Carthaginian infantry is at start. So the only way to advance is by making huge cavalry force and use them as a horde. Even if I do agree that doesn’t really require much skill to move that huge horde around…
Here is an attempt to answer questions commonly asked on this very popular video.
Of course since nobody reads, I guess this will be a vain attempt…
Here is the famous video.
Did you do 161 Spartans vs 4801 peasants for a challenge?
There was absolutely no challenge in winning that battle, the Spartans could have won this battle without me doing anything. If you want a challenge you should try to beat 161 Spartans with 4801 peasants. The question is why would you even think that I created this video for a challenge. It’s just a funny video of a pointless battle that people find very enjoyable to watch, with nice Music, and a funny adviser.
What is that music in the video?
The music is all from Rome Total War music.dat file. The song comes from the credits of the game which can also be found in the music.dat file. You can open that file with Audacity which will import all the music of the game.
How can I get the adviser to say what he say at the start of the battle?
I don’t know in what context the adviser says this, but it was taken from the voice.dat files, it’s more then 3 hours of audio so I don’t remember where I found those 8 sec of audio in that huge sound file but you can search it with Audacity.
Are those soldiers Spartans? Why don’t they look like my Spartans with golden shields and red clothes?!?
Yes, those soldiers are Spartans, they just have a modified skin that Creative Assembly made a long time ago. You can Download it HERE
I created a mirror on filefront HERE (since you never know if a website will survive or not…)
Why is your unit size bigger than my unit size?
Just go in your videos option, advanced, and put unit size to Huge.
Why does your interface is difference the my interface?
You need to go in your Rome Total War folder, preference folder, open preference.txt with the notepad. Search for Minimal_UI, change it to TRUE. But be warn it’s an adaptation to play in that mode and you will need to learn keyboard controls. Click F1 to see the control.
How do you rotate your unit?
Click , or .
How do you see where all your units go?
click spacebar
How did you get so close to the Spartans in the 300 video?
Right click on your Rome Total War Short Cut. in the shortcut tab had the -movie_cam to the path. Next time your will watch a “recorded” custom battle or multiplayed battle, the interface won’t be the same.
IF YOU HAVE MORE QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO ASK, I WILL UPDATE MY FAQ
After taking the control of Sicily the Brutii try to counter attack me with all they have.
This battle is really impressive in my option and really shows some skill with the light cavalry. (I think Medieval II Total War made me dislearned that…) In this battle I really use the infantry as a distraction as my cavalry does all the job. I move my cavalry around divided and encircling the enemies and then concentrate all my force on one enemy unit at a time. I must admit I’m impressing by my perfect coordination between all those groups of cavalry…
Here is my latest Rome Total War Movie.
Hope you enjoy and leave feedback.
I must say those old battle are really funny to watch since I really don’t remember what happened in them.
This second battle was against the Greek in Sicily. Since the Roman were previously kicked out of Sicily, the Greek were the second menace on the island. The main advantage of destroying Greece force on that Island is really that you can be sure they won’t come back later.
This battle is really interesting, my Iberian infantry and town militia were really no match against phalanx troops, so I had to do a really great job with my light cavalry to isolate the enemies and kill them one unit at a time.
I must say I’m a little surprise by my strategy (Seem I have evolved since then,
). I divide my cavalry into two group, my general and elephant and my light cavalry on the other flank. I engaged my general with elephant first on the right flank against archer. They slowly advanced into the enemy rank. I only engaged my light cavalry on the Left flank after they got engage first. Finally I engaged my main force only when I became sure that they would not rout when in front of the phalanx and that my cavalry could do most of the job from attacking in the back.
That was an other nice battle: D
