Psi Ops The Mindgate Conspiracy review

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Heres a game mechanic we don’t see everyday and lil o in the 2003…or was it from 2005 era…anyways you can throw guys everywhere, make their heads pop ,control em and burn em ….and all that WITH yOUR MIND!!!
The game is great, original, not bad graphics for the time and good production values…not to mention the game has ALOT of extras and i think you need to find Evil gnomes to unlock most of em and you can also view the movies from the game as well and also replay the game with different skins…although boss battles weren’t expected….they weren’t bad for the most part …well happy head poping.

Lego Indiana Jones review(first PS2 review)

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

As the title says ill be reviewing a PS2 game although with no footage sorry bout that but i think of this as my first real article so if this site does one day lift off …i have some practice so lets continue.

So the games storyline is the Indiana Jones movies you can really think of this game as 3 smaller games in one in each chapter you have about 6 levels each lasting around 30 minutes but if you want to complete the game in a 100% you have to play through the game multiple times.
Of course if you played the previous Lego games before you will know that the game always has more then just the main game in ,the Lego games always add a little bit of something extra to enhance replay value and especially with a buddy it adds to the fun.
The Lego games are mainly recognized in because they don’t take ourselves too seriously way of portraying a movie just like the last 2-3 games instead of text bubbles or voice acting they use pantomimic expressions to portray the story of the movies in a fun way…although those who haven’t seen the movies might get confused but the cut scenes are still fun.
Due to they are blocky nature even though a Indiana Jones movie game violence such as ripping another guys hearth out or decapitations is a whole lot less then poping a head off .
The puzzles in the game aren’t impossible or stupid they are logical and fun and very different then those in the Lego Star Wars games,to gameplay is added by certain characters having phobias, the ability to use fallen enemies weapons or to wear their hats even though its mainly for decorative reasons some hats are needed to bypass certain checkpoints of enemies to reveal secret locations.Speaking of enemies the enemies aren’t reffered to nazis or anythings just enemies or bad guys .The music relly fits the action sequenced parts of the game and i really after playing this game wanted to hear that old Indiana Jones theme song.
The only bad part i encountered in the game is the friendly AI and the annoyance of enemies respawning at some points. The Lego games aren’t known for theyr lighting or graphics but cause of the fun you wont mind.

Overall the game is a game for anybody mainly for Indiana Jones fans the game stays true to its predecessors of the Star Wars variety with some added touches even though if your not a platformer fan id recommend this game it has fine moments although i didn’t test the Co Op but i tested that in The Lego Star Wars games overall i recommend this game since i have a good feeling that Travelers Tales ones it branches of the movies it will make a franchise of its own .Have fun.

RGV #1: KKND Krossfire - Survivors Gameplay

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

A new sub-series I’ve decided to do titled “Random Gameplay Videos” (RGV for short), not the most…original title, but I couldn’t think of anything better and to the point. Tis is what I’ll do whilst I’m making my walkthroughs, is probably spend a few days in between missions is make a few little gameplay videos demonstrating a certain game.

I am considering also narrating some of them to discuss my feelings on the game too. Heck, I might go and revamp this video and put a little bit of narration in and maybe a title sequence, I dunno, what do you think?

Krush Kill n’ Destroy (KKND) Krossfire is an RTS game released in 1998 by Beam Entertainment and Melbourne House.

One of my all time favorite RTS games back in my early days of gaming. This is just a small gameplay video of one of the first missions you play as the Survivors.

Minerva:Metastasis review

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

After two and a half years in the making Minerva:Metastasis is the 3 installment of the Minerva series although i must say i didn’t play the first 2 but ill check them
The Mod:
Well overall the mod could use some voice acting cause its always risky too read while you could potentially get under fire while reading ,the mod is overall very well executed with great effects, good mapping, and EXCELLENT underground environment a bit later in the game and even more impressive it gets after you blow up the underground facility…although i would prefer less screecher zombies near the end
The Problems:
TOO MANY SCREECHER ZOMBIES!!!Besides that there are NO regular zombies only screechers and zombies a nice little detail seeing it that there are only combines on the island and not too mention the islands also a head crab production facility
Any innovations ?:
Well no its just your typical Half life shooting although there is a part of the game in witch you have too be clever so too speak you would have too avoid combine soldiers some traps and figure out how too turn certain objects off all that without the use of ANY weapon witch makes it a bit difficult but is rather fun too think of what too do next
And i guess you can count in music as a innovation cause i don’t think i heard the music in the original Half Life 2 witch means its newly created and is well made
Ill give the game a 9.0 cause of the difficulty and puzzle solving
(on a side note some of Valves developer helped with the mod there names can be found in the credits of the mod)

Half Life 2 Wars V0.1 Review

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Sorry if i said V1.0 in the video (and sorry for you hardly hearing me >.o)
The Mod:
Well the mod is a definite credit too the players of HL 2 that wanted too fight battles but never quite wanted too get shot at this version has only 2 maps soo far but in the next there will be 2 additional ones as well as the aspects of basebuilding (that you will see an example of underneath) there looking for people fore voice acting, mappers and modellers for the base buildings and sooner or later Multiplayer will be added to the mix
The Problems:
Well so far i have had one problem overall JUST 2 MAPS ,but thats not what bothers me on the second map (a desert one)the game crashes on me but since i have only 512 MB RAM i ain’t blaming the mod and the Antlions seem a bit ….too unbalanced there are too many of them and they come at you way too quickly but these things should be fixed in the next version hopefully
Any innovations ?:
Well as demonstrated in my video you can see that you can fight on multiple levels of a house probably making the capturing of a house in the game far much more probably important and or harder ,when throwing a grenade due too the physics makes it that much more strategy and Dependant on luck and AI should improve with the next version and rebel soldiers without weapons can pick up stronger or any weapons and too add too realism they also reload
(DO’H i didn’t notice that i couldn’t be heard i thought i set the volume down enough >.<)
So for now the mod receives a 8.5 due too smoke of the problems i HAD
And heres the example for the next version:

You can get the mod here

This is a fictional story. The year is now 1302 and the holy war between the Lithuanian Pagans and the Teutonic Order has been raging on for 12 years and the conflict is starting to slow, but in a last ditch effort, Lithuania fielded an army to take the city of Riga and end the war. But they will have to get passed the superior forces of the Teutonic Order and the tall stone walls to end this ungodly war.Special thanks to my good friend Kinshejsi for some great music.

Right Brain vs Left Brain war!

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

This will be an interesting post today

The challenge today, telling us in what way the dancer is turning, Clockwise or anti-clockwise or both way?

Dancer

The way it’s turning will define if you are more a Left Brain or Right brain kind of person. :)

If it Turn clockwise you are more a right brain. The right brain is define as: uses feeling, “big picture” oriented, imagination rules, symbols and images, present and future, philosophy & religion, can “get it” (i.e. meaning), believes, appreciates, spatial perception, knows object function, fantasy based, presents, ossibilities, impetuous, risk taking.

if it turn anti clockwise you are more a left brain. The left brain is define as:uses logic, detail oriented, facts rule, words and language, present and past, math and science, can comprehend, knowing, acknowledges order/pattern perception, knows object name, reality based, forms strategies, practical, safe.

You can find the source of that fund mind game there

Schnitzelz’s Suggestions: Storyline?

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

Ok, so maybe your tired of watching a video of someone playing a video game.(even though thats mainly what DYG is about ;D) And you want to see some machinima. Well I asked Atilla about this and he asked me to write a small post about it to see what you guys think. Should we write a story for a movie? And if so, what game? Possibly a game that most of us have, that way some of us can be actors? Comment with your opinion, suggestions, comments etc. ^_^

Sir Ken Robinson on Creativity

Friday, March 16th, 2007

It’s rare we post video that we didn’t created, but on rare moment we think it worth it.

Here is a video from “TED talks” from TED.com. It’s a conference by Sir Ken Robinson, author of Out of Our Minds: Learning to be Creative, and a leading expert on innovation and human resources. (Recorded February, 2006 in Monterey, CA.)

This is a very entertaining and enlightening video about creativity in education.

Watch and listen closely it really worth it
For the original source and more videos like this go to http://www.ted.com/tedtalks/

We think this video is really interesting for any one here on the blog, as normal people from every age, since it can inspire you to realize his own creative potential. What is said does apply in real life and video game in our opinion or any of your future projects. We are all good at something. It’s not because educational system or others don’t understand it that any of you can’t reach your full creative potential both in real life and video games.
