Hearts of Iron 2: Doomsday, My DD sunk a CV!

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

This is silly and cool. I felt like sharing it.

Hearts of Iron 2
(Right like and select Veiw Image to see it.)

This is just one of those moments in a game. How can a Destoryer sink an Aircraft Carrier?

Heres some more info on the battle:

My fleet:
3 Destoyers with ASW brigades attached.

Their fleet:
1 Carrier, 1 Heavy Crusier, and two Destoryers.

I lost:
All but one DD.
They lost all but the two DDs.

Overall, the engagment was a neither a victory or a defeat. The Americans have more CVs then I can count but losing one is good enough. But I also lost my anti sub fleet, now the allies can raid my convoys. :( Watching the battle was fun though. I was biting my lip the whole time!

Commandos 3: Destination Berlin

Friday, May 18th, 2007

This is just a little gameplay from Commandos 3. A game that is alot like Silent Storm or Soldiers: Heros of WWII. Commandos 3 is a game thats well worth checking out if you’re looking for a very hard game and is sure please those who like tactical games as well.

World War I and Games: My thoughts.

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Why aren’t there any? In my opinion it would be a successful concept for tactical warfare games. Guiding you’re squad across the no mans land, piloting a tank or fighter, getting trench foot. It would be a breath or fresh air, far away from these WWII clones we see.

I also don’t think that WWI vets aren’t given the attention they deserved. I wonder how it must be for the men and women who fought on the battlefields and home fronts, to see that the sacrifices you made being completely overshadowed by another. (I also feel this way about Korean War veterans.)

Back to the point, a WWI game would give players new battlefields to fight on, I for one am sick and tired of fighting the same battles over and over again. I am especially tired of seeing Normandy and Stalingrad! I wanna see the Somme, or the Hundred Days Offensive!

I am sorry if I’m offending anyone, I’m tired of World War II. I wanna see more World War I. The closest thing I’ve seen of one is the 1914 mod for Hearts of Iron 2. Which is a WWII game, ironically!

Rome Total War: Strange bug!

Friday, March 30th, 2007

It appears that my copy of Rome has broken. Just in the middle of playing this happens

rtwglitch.JPG

I reload the game, and it gets worse!

I shut down my computer, restarted the game with a new campaign and it still persists. Looks like I have to reinstall it. :(

Has anyone seen this before?

Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars Demo: My Immpressions.

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Ah yes, Command and Conquer has returned! Kane is back and ready for another attempt to defeat the Global Defend Initiative (GDI). But this time an alien race, called the Scrin, is joining the battle for their own intentions…

…So is the plot of the new Command and Conquer game from EA, a company in the game industry known for having a pseudo monopoly on games. This time they gave us the demo for Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. This new edition of the franchise is sure to be one of EA’s best yet!

The demo itself includes a tutorial, a mission for the GDI campaign, and one map for skirmish mode.

In this reveiw I will focus solely on the Skirmish mode.

The mode gives you control over GDI only, although there is a trick that allows you to play as Nod and the Scrin. Put your mouse over the race selection and click N or G then right click with the mouse and it should switch the faction to Nod or GDI. (If playing as the Scrin you will automatically lose the game.) The same can be done for the AI.

Tiberium Wars’ gameplay is much other C&C games. You start with a Construction Yard. You must build buildings, units, and upgrades in order to prepare yourself for your enemy(s). It’s fast paced and fun, just like the good old Command & Conquer games.

The only problem with gameplay is that unit upgrades can’t be preformed on the sidebar.

Both GDI and Nod have been completely revamped for the new CnC, never before have they been so diverse. Classic units like the Grenadier, Flame Tank, and the Ion Cannon have returned along with new units in the roster like the Predator, Fanatic, and Beam Cannon.

Graphically, on my machine, it isn’t too impressive since I have to put it on the lowest settings. No brilliant lighting to be found here. Not to say that it isn’t terrible.

The game’s sound is extremely impressive, gunfire, lasers, explosions, all sounds are conveyed very well and flawlessly.

The music on the other hand has some problems. It just doesn’t fit the Command and Conquer style. It’s more “classical” sounding then the techno/heavy metal feel from the old games and tends to slow the game down. Nor was it composed by Frank Klepacki, much to my disspare. The music itself is pretty to though, just not C&C.

Overall, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars Demo is impressive and well worth downloading. If this is how the retail is, I’ll be sure to buy it.

Scores:

Graphics: 8/10

Sound and Music: 9/10

Gamplay: 9/10

Fun Factor: 10/10

Final Score: 9/10

System Requirement for Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars:

Pentium 4 1.2 Ghz Processor (It’s supposed to be a 1.6.)

ATI Radeon 9550 256MB Video Card.

450 Watt Fan

EG motherboard (Dunno which one exactly)

Onboard soundcard

512MB Patriot brand RAM.

Play for Fun or Play to Own? My thoughts/ranting.

Sunday, March 4th, 2007

This is my first of many editorials, yes it’s not all that good but my writing quality to improve over time. So here it goes.

I’ve posted numorous videos with my own gameplay onto YouTube for months now and one thing I noticed was all the comments I got on “how much u suk” or “i cud own u sooooo bad!!!!!”. Most of the time I delete these. I hate these kind of comments because of the intent they seem to have, which is to hurt someone else’s feelings or damage their self-esteem. But lately I’ve been getting more of them, since I posted my RA2 videos and it’s been driving me nuts.

If you’re one those people who posted those kinds of comments on my (or anyone else’s) videos, I have a message for you:

I’m sorry I am not an awesome gamer with hardcore skills like Attila16 or any other gamer out who tries to get good at their games. I for one try to have fun with games and don’t care if I suck or not. I like just having fun and I see in doing so.

Now lets talk about what I really wanted to talk about here…

Is playing video games about trying to be great at them or just something to have fun with?

Playing a game for me is about enjoying myself. It should be like that for everyone. Playing for glory per se is not a healthy thing. It takes the fun out of playing a game and causes someone to strive for prefection. Perfection is immpossible and I see no reason to persue it. It’s okay to play a game and be very good at it but it isn’t about just being good. It’s about being happy.

I remember playing Command & Conquer Red Alert 1 a few months ago and having a good friend who did the same. That perfectly fine but he would never stop talking about how much I suck and how much he could beat me. He is an example of a sect of gamers that only seem to care about being good.

Well, this is my opinion, you can tell me yours in the comments.

Red Alert 2: Cheap Victory.

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

Another day, another RA2 video I guess. In this one I first tried a tank assault, with that I was able to take out the Battle Lab, which is good but not what I wanted. Next I used a Demo Truck in a less then effective way. :( Next up: Boris with a Flak Halftrack to defend him from air attack and transport his slow butt around. The AI erected a Prism tower within range and killed him. I was so close to saving him though. This is a shame. But heres the funny part, ONE Kirov was able to finish the opponent, a desperate move it was, and success it bought me!

Yuri’s Revenge Gamplay: Human Wave Attack.

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Here is a round of Command & Conquer Red Alert 2: Yuri’s Revenge expansion set.
Against a Brutal Level Opponent, I was successful in using Human Wave Tactics, and Urban Tactics, followed up with armored support for a easy victory. And who said C&C is all about massing tanks?
