The Burning Baltics: The Beginning
This is my latest movie using the cinimatic editor for medieval total war 2 kingdoms. Its called The Burning Baltics: The Beginning. With my videos I like them to have a story instead of just a plan battle video. The story is something I made up and has nothing to do with historic events, its just to set the mood if you will. In regards to the story this is the first violent incounter between Pagan Lithuania and The Teutonic Order. Its set south of the Teutonic city of Riga and The TO is defending a direct rout to the city. I hope you all with enjoy….

Absolutely stunning. You’re camera angles were great and the music was nice too. I especially liked the part when the tuetonic archers started firing on the pagans
December 1st, 2007 at 10:15 pm
wow like SirGuy said nice camera shots, but how is the M:TW 2 cinematic editor work?
December 1st, 2007 at 10:17 pm
aww i forgot to finish, as nice as it was it still felt like it missing like a personal touch like a main character, though i know its not a movie. it was like watching a movie (how good it looked).
December 2nd, 2007 at 11:47 am
Aww I was rooting for the pagans.
January 5th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
Where can I find the editor tutorial? because its says you have it on this site, but you dont, need help
January 5th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
I once saw a tutorial, but I cant seem to remember where I saw it :S, please help :O Where Can I Find It? The Cin-Ed thingy
January 5th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Where Can I get the Cin - ed thingy, Ive been searching everywhere now :S and yet cant seem to find it, nor the tutorial, I found one but it was soo confusing, and I cant seem to find that site again :P, Help?
January 7th, 2008 at 4:14 am
Ok, for one Attila has a tutorial on cin-ed and you can go to on DYG (look on the right side of the page, and on this page as well just scroll up a little)
http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic/16245 (thats the one that I used)
Im trying to find the time to make one myself using what I have done for both Vista and XP. Just read the tutorial carefully and do what it says, if you still have trouble just hang in there for my tut. when I make it.
January 7th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
kk, this only works on the expansion right?
January 7th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
So, this only works for the exspansion right? Medieval 2 total war : Kingdoms
January 7th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
I really liked you’re films, and I got inspired to make or at least try to make something too, but I don’t have the expansion right now, I just got M2TW :S..
January 8th, 2008 at 12:23 am
Cin-ed works with both MTW2 and KGDMS, the only difference is whats in the batch file. Most all the tutorials set up for the MTW2 and not KGDMS. I chose to use KGDMS because of the factions and the maps.
January 8th, 2008 at 11:37 am
Ok, thanks. Great to know, but the cin-ed file, still works for both though?`Or ?
January 8th, 2008 at 11:50 am
And, know any nice music witch will fit into those kinda movies? I could really need a guidence there
Know any, or any places witch could be a nice place to get some nice music ? thanks
January 8th, 2008 at 1:24 pm
Yes, as long as the batch file and its config file are right, it will work.
When it comes to music, I use music from movies like Last Samuari, 300, Kingdom of Heaven, etc… or any modern music that you think that will fit well with the situation or mood. I get most of my stuff from Limewire and soundtracks that I have.
January 9th, 2008 at 11:11 am
Okey, nice to know, cose I’ve been trying to locate some good soundtracks, but am having trouble finding anything at all, When I searched limewire; nothing, and yes I checked my spelling :P, But I’ll keep on searched as my movie is nearly complete, it just needs a bit more, and some nice music
January 9th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
Cool let me know when it comes out, and for some searching tips I type in the “album name” when I search and I found some good stuff, or if you know the songs title that works to. You going to post it on Youtube, I just have to ask.
January 11th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Yeah, am thinking of it
, having some troubles with it, but its minor details,
January 11th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
To keep some of the quality of your videos download the large video file uploader, its on the right side of the single upload screen, it will say something about uploading large video files. Thats what I use and that way my videos have just a bit more quality in them.
January 12th, 2008 at 6:19 am
Okey, am having a small trouble here.. For some reason, the cin-ed stopped working, when I try to edit something it wont appear :S
January 12th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
I need some more information about what your doing.
January 13th, 2008 at 7:12 am
Well, ok. It just suddenly stopped to appear when I went into replays, I deleted the cin-ed, and tried to -install- it again, but nothing happends.
January 13th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
at the [replay] in cin-ed, do it have to stand something special to make it work properly?
January 13th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
This is what am doing:
1) made a document, copied the configuration into it, and saved it as cin-ed.cfg in my totalwar folder.
2) made a batch file, putted Medieval2.exe @cin-ed.cfg into it and saved it into MTW2 folder.
: It launches but it does no different, the cin-ed thingy wont appear on the replays, what have am I doing wrong?
January 13th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
In your cfg file is the replay path right?
make sure that you put the right path in the replay section of the cfg file. This has to dead on accurate or it will not work. The smallest error will throw it off. Here is an example of mine, keep in mind that at the moment im using the teutonic game in kingdoms so it may be a little different then yours:
[replay]
play = 1
file = C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\teutonic\replays\finial.rpy
camera = C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\camera\
show_battle_ui = 0
info = 0
January 13th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
I dont know why it looks like it does, I guess that happened when I posted the comment.
January 14th, 2008 at 10:36 am
So I have a replay saved called 1 try, do I have to put that into the [replays] thingy? Am really confused..
[replay]
play = 1
file = C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\replays\
camera = camera\
show_battle_ui = 0
info = 0
this is how it looks now, but what do I need to do to make it work properly.. :S
January 14th, 2008 at 10:56 am
[replay]
play = 1
file = C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\replays\1 try.rpy
camera = camera\
show_battle_ui = 0
info = 0
I suggest that your replay names be one word or just numbers, I use 1, 2, 3, etc… It just makes it a little easier, its just a thought. Try this set up and I pretty sure it will work.
January 14th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
kk, ill try that :P, Ill let you know how it goes
January 14th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Not working still :S. The Cin Configuration is just going to look like a text icon right, no changes there? (btw I used Notepad for the cin configuration, it does work for the job right?):::
January 14th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
Try this, make a new text doc, dont put anything in it yet, instead open the empty file and go to “save as” and save it as cin-ed.cfg. Then put your text for the cfg file into the new cin-ed.cfg. If you did it right you will see the new cfg file and the empty text doc. the cfg file is a configuration file so if your cfg file is still a text doc it will not work.
you can do the same for the .bat file do what i said above and save it as
cin-ed.bat
the (.cfg and .bat) at the end of the file name when saving it will automaticlly create the file you want.
That should help alot
January 14th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
yes notepad is the best program to use for cin-ed
January 14th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
No matter what I try, the cin-ed.cfg still looks and is a text document, no changes at all, i have no Idea whats going on
January 14th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
I did as you told me but, it stays as a text document all the time.. Why is this happening to me
:(, am not giving up hope yet though, Ill continue trying, but at the moment it seems hopeless
January 14th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
the .bat beomes a batch file, but the .cfg don’t :S
January 14th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
OMG; its working thanks so mutch Master@Arms41 !! It did help, just me a bit stupid and ignored something :P,, hehe thanks alot
January 14th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
Taken the happines at hand, its not working properly, no sound, no replays, it seems like all it does is launch the game, but in windows mode. No Replays, No nothing, its just like Ive just installed the game :S
January 14th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
GOOD!, now all you need is a replay, go into the game, not cin ed and play a custom battle and save the replay at the end. BTW cin ed doesnt render sound so you have to add your own sound, it sucks but you just have to deal with it. but if you want to hear sound in cin ed, open your .cfg lol file and where is says “audio= disabled” change it to enabled and you will hear sound, but when you render your cameras with render.bat you will not have any sound.
Im glad to hear you got it working!!!!
January 15th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Hm, so its still not working.
I made a custom battle, saved the replay at the end, called it 2.
Went into the cfg, and fixed the [replay] to:
[replay]
play = 1
file = C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\replays\2.rpy
camera = camera\
show_battle_ui = 0
info = 0
But when I launch it, the replay aint there :S
January 15th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
If you would send me whats in your cfg file to me and I will look it over.
captainben41@hotmail.com
Can you get cin ed to open, or does it open to the game?
January 18th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
I can open the cin-ed if i just rename it, and removes the .cfg, but it launches the game in window mode, the problem is there is no replays there, Ive been trying for soo long now..:S
January 18th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
But I’ve bought Kingdoms now, and I wonder if its easier to make the cin-ed work with kingdoms then with MTW2..?
January 18th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
cin ed is the same with MTW2 and kingdoms their really is no difference, on HOW it works.
your replays are loctaed in a folder named “replays” and if there is no replay in you cfg file you must put it in right and spell it correctly and put the right path.
January 19th, 2008 at 10:14 am
hm.. I saved a new replay called it 1, so the path should be
C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\replays\1.rpy
And it is, but it cant seem to find the replay or any replays in that matter.
January 19th, 2008 at 10:15 am
(MTW2)
January 19th, 2008 at 10:43 am
yes, you go to your MTW2 file and you should see folders like main, config, data, etc… and if you saved a replay it should have made a folder that says replays and the replay will be in there.
January 19th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
oh found it but it did no good, the path is correct but when it launches : no replays there..
January 20th, 2008 at 12:42 am
what do you mean “no replays there” does it look like you are below the terrain?
January 21st, 2008 at 7:09 am
What I mean is, it launches the game, but thatt it, in windows mode. and when I klikk on replays, there are none.
January 21st, 2008 at 7:09 am
thats*
January 21st, 2008 at 7:11 am
It just launches the game, nothing more.
January 21st, 2008 at 11:33 am
your batch file is wrong, go to a tutorial and get the batch file and copy and paste, that is the reason, I had that same problem, the batch file might seem right but this only occurs if your batch file is wrong. A single letter will mess it up. give that a try.
January 21st, 2008 at 5:42 pm
kk, i’ll give it a shot.
January 24th, 2008 at 11:31 am
i think it would have worked if I havent messed it up, i kinda opened the file with notepad, and now it only launches the game. :O
January 24th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
try re-installing the game and start over.
January 25th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
Ye, I don’t got mutch of a choice now
re-install it is.
January 25th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
it worked for me when I re-installed, and it sounds that you have everything right.
