Attila’s FAQ episode 2: You think you are better then me?
Why that question?
The goal of that video is to answer the phenomenal number of “challenge” and the few insult (more rare), I have receive over the last years. Many people seem to believe that I put videos on youtube because I would think I’m better then every one else. But I don’t remember saying anywhere during all the last years that I was “good”. I tend to respond positively to every one that tell me that I’m good and I do the same for those that believe I could have played better. The reason being recognizing how good someone is relative to how good you are (or arrogant in a few case). So people should learn to recognize the process of getting better instead of judging a static skill in a fixed time in a video.
The Morality behind the answer of the video
Now beyond the cause of why I did that video there is also the aspect of how I replied to this well acted question. “Attila” didn’t shooted the guy to demonstrate something that I believe is one of the most important aspect of multiplayer games. It’s the socialization skill and capacity to do teamplay, form alliance and friendship. I think it’s a really important skill when it comes to multiplayer games. By experience when every player play by the rule and act with maturity and use a “respect full” language. The multiplayer experience is really improved.
I remember a game of Halo where one player alway typed in the chat “FU” “wtf” etc. each time he was kill. So basically that was all that was happening in the chat… So at some point I got tired of seeing soo many time those word in the chat and told him that instead of insulting every one he should compliment them. After some talking he accepted. So he started complimenting those that killed him, the other started answering back and complimented him back, when they were kill by him, then people started chatting, joking, talking about fun stuff. In clear it switched from a chat full of anger to a very friendly chat that every one seem to have enjoy far more then the previous round.
So the way you approaches the other players is as important as you capacity to win in order to really enjoy the game. By experience the more you enjoy the game the better player you will be. Respect your friends and enemies and spread the positive gaming thinking to improve your own gaming experience!
On the technical aspect of the video
The goal of this video was to smart and more entertaining due to sound effect. (It really hard to be funny with sound) Special thanks to Schnitzelz for the voice acting part. Keep leaving questions, I will try to answer those of public interest in the future episodes. ![]()

I love it! Very nice!
November 5th, 2007 at 6:24 pm
Yeah i hate when people say “wtf you hacker” or “you’re a noob”
when the person him/herself dies.
Just because a lower rank kills a higher rank they can’t accept it,even if the new person is very good!
Any Attila nice vid

November 5th, 2007 at 8:14 pm

November 5th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
should ahve blasted his head off when you looked at him
November 5th, 2007 at 9:50 pm
Atilla, I’m a fan of your work but while on youtube I’ve heard comments saying that you aren’t as good as you seem to be in RTW or MTW because you only fight A.I. Do you actually play online?
November 5th, 2007 at 9:57 pm
Na, such individual don’t worth a direct involvement
November 5th, 2007 at 11:27 pm
Well SirGuy, I did play online in the past but i dislike it for a simple reason. It totally lack context. The battle are point less and serve no long term purpose. Personally I like the context of the campaign and would probably play Total War even without battles. If this game had a online campaign i would probably play more multiplayer.
As for the video you see of me fighting AI. I find that AI isn’t the best opponent indeed, but unlike multiplayer videos, the AI is a stable adversary that every one can relate to because it has a stable behavior that every one had to fight.
In multiplayer you can’t really judge how skilled is the enemy.
Base on comments I saw on multiplayer videos, if you win people will say the enemies is a “noob”, and if you lose they will say “you are bad”.
The multiplayer also cut you from many core strategy element, like the principle “to never attack an enemies, unless you are 3 time more then he is.” If you check my video you rarely will see me “attack” an enemy without having more soldiers then he has, that’s the kind of principle that you just won’t see in multiplayer due to the lack of context.
But you can judge by yourself my multiplayer skills with those few multiplayer video of Rome.

I think those videos are a fair representation of the type of battles you see online.
I don’t have any of medieval II since the experience I had with multiplayer was so laggy that I gave up recording it.
You should also know that as said before, I never said I was any good and my goals really have nothing to do with becoming the best player of any game. My goal is more to enjoy myself with video games and share my enjoyment with every one else.
I hope that enlight you

Why do those guys always say such things like you are a noob and u suck, I don’t care, I tell them that they probably are better then me in that game, but sometimes being a ‘noob’ makes the game harder and therefore more fun and i think the essence of playing games is having fun, not being the best at a game. Someone has also said to me that I don’t have to post video’s on youtube from games I’m not good at. I told him that I’m not someone who wants ‘to show off’ or create somekind of visual walkthrough for the gamers that want to play the games on hard levels, I record my gameplay and try to make it fun for u guys to watch.

The best answer ever. Nothing better than asking a buddy of you (who is currently in a tank, that lucky bastard
) to take care of anoying people.
November 6th, 2007 at 1:14 pm
you are very moral
November 6th, 2007 at 3:08 pm
Hmm, next question could be about statwhores. Or “What to do good-for-nothing guys who can’t anything but whine.” Nice vid again btw
November 6th, 2007 at 3:11 pm
yeah it’s weird Kinshasa, it’s like for some people because you may not be the best player you should not share you enthusiasm for video games, just seem weird…
alf2142
hehe yeah tanks does the job in general.
ccxapp
Well by experience if you follow the right path of a certain integrity, people around you will enjoy the game even more.
November 6th, 2007 at 3:14 pm
by statwhores you mean like those with high rank because they play more then other player?
November 7th, 2007 at 2:16 pm
I mean guys that only look stats. I meet lot of these guys in WiC.
Example 1
Recruit level player got the higest score in the round. There were players ranked as major, colonel, general etc… Those guys were like: “OMFG! That n00b can’t be best! Look at his rank and stats! He must be a cheater or hax.”
Example 2
While you still got good points from repairing your own units there were many support players that only repaired themseleves. After that they were like: “Sheez, how could we lose I was best player?”
Even the recruit who called tank buster on my tanks was more usefull…
by statwhores you mean like those with high rank because they play more then other player?”
No, I call ‘em lucky bastards
Unfortunately currently I don’t have any time to play at all.
November 7th, 2007 at 3:08 pm
Yeah maybe I could think about something on the subject…
But you can read my position on the subject in that small editorial

November 9th, 2007 at 1:12 am
hey how do you deal with Team-Killers and Team-Attackers. i just disconnect myself
November 9th, 2007 at 12:55 pm
well it depend the situation,
If the team killer aim at me specifically, I ignore him, in general they can’t hit me anyway…
if the team killer annoy every one, well either you quit, or change team
If it’s really out of control, with the agreement of all the other player I hunt him down until he leave because in general those guys don’t have much skill. but this last option is really not recommended…
November 9th, 2007 at 1:04 pm
you are right a good team can beat anyone/ if you have good just like a SAS team if real life !
November 9th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
yep
November 12th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
Btw Attila. Which role do you prefer on the battlefield. Sniper, assault engineer etc? “I always adapt to situation” answer is out of the question this time ^^
And what is your favourite weapon class? Sniper, SMG, assault rifle…
November 12th, 2007 at 7:02 pm
well, in general I’m the crazy guy in front of all the team charging the enemies and killing every one on the path. so I guess that would be either a SMG, or an Assault rifle.
April 28th, 2008 at 10:21 am
why isn’t the video available anymore?
May 13th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Not sure, maybe it wasn’t getting very good comments. Or Attila didn’t like it?
May 14th, 2008 at 8:35 am
na it was good, but had to took it out in unclear times…
