Switch to DirectX10? Calm down people.
Does Microsoft’s DirectX10 strategy have negative effect on the gaming community? I would say yes, they are bragging about this directX10 to their necks is sore.
There is no doubt that DirectX10 is very powerful and are an huge leap within graphics, but they put to much pressure on the gamer community. As the boss of Valve said recently: Microsoft have made a great mistake when they made DirectX10 only to vista and not to XP.
And in my opinion is that Microsoft stepped over the line when they started to put games from console to PC to vista only, that was a directX9 game (Halo 2).
Anyway I’ve heard rumors that EA have canceled their relationship with Microsoft Because of this.
Don’t stress, the “directX10″ games don’t require as much hardware Microsoft say yes, World in Conflict is working on my PC (which is 2 years old). I’m guessing I will buy a Vista PC in a year, but there is no crime in getting it. I just made this post to calm down people that feel an enormous stress.
But if you are going to update your computer, get DX10. It will soon become more stable and user friendly.

Well so far I’m yet to hear a positive comment about vista…
Everything I hear about it is either it’s bad, or neutral attitude.
As for directX10. It would be important to say that we are now at directX10.1 and while directX10 card will be able to run directX10.1 most new feature of directx10.1 won’t work with directX10 card. I think that’s a good exemple of how little Microsoft care about gamers.
People buy card to be ready for directx10 and they will already need to buy new cards.
So far there is like… 3 or 5 games that support directx10? From what I saw of Directx10 the main graphical feature is that the visual is more blurred then directx9. So I’m really skeptical about it and even more to invest in both vista and directX10.
The other aspect that isn’t really encouraging to switch is the lack of enthusiasm of many developer toward this switch. Many believe that directx9 still has a lot of potential that wasn’t use yet and that a change in technology isn’t really require.
So personally I don’t believe that for the next two or 3 years it will be require to switch to directx10 stuff since most developer will make their game work on both platform.

Well, I gonna wait until DX10 are more stable and user friendly.
Btw attila, was the video card from ATI, becuase the DX10 card from ATI does make it blurred. But the NVIDIA card have gotten good response.

Of course they do such a stupid thing, that’s how marketting works: if they release a new version no one buys it if you can do everything on your old version, just like games for consoles, they release first for PS3, then Xbox360 then PC, and all the games so that more people would buy a PS3 now that’s it new. and why: money money money money money money money money money money money money money and yet more money.

“Money makes to world go around”
On my oppinion the video game developers are doing suicide when they’are doing deals like this:
Mr. M “Here take this 50 000 000 $ and publish Far Cry 2 only to the PC with Vista and Dx10.”
Far Cry project leader: “Sure thing man. You got yourself a deal.”

vista sux….:( go2 badvista.org 2 see how bad it really is
I think Windows “Vienna” releasing in 2010 might provide a more comfortable operating system 4 gamerz.
As 4 Empire, it’s only on Windows Vista.
But StarCraft 2 is on the XP PCs 2 so that might b a exception 2 other games releasing on Vista.
