Rome Total War Carthage Chronicles Battle 05

This siege is the first battle in the war against the Gauls. (They started it). Since I was without doubt totally outnumbered. This forced me to use a feature of Rome Total War and a little tactic. So I deployed my infantry in the town center this way they would not rout. Once my forces were engage, I ordered my cavalry that was in a secure place to attack from the back. It was really risky but my attack from behind created a totally routing of the Gauls army is only a few light cavalry lost.

woww. I would have lost that battle (I consentrate my defense at the walls). I must try that tactic when im outnumberd. :)

By experience defending even stone wall is really a bad deal both in Rome Total War and Medieval II Total War. Defend the center and sometime with one or two phalanx you can hold it against a full army.

i have to say again, good battle hehehehe really good and interesant tactic, i also have to try it

Thanx for the tip, but i will only do that when im outnumberd (to found of combat on the walls ;) ).

  5. Attila Says:

Well I nearly alway use that tactic because I rarely ever keep troop to defend city. So I’m alway outnumber. ;)

Not me. I use citys as strong points, so there is always a large army at my frontier citys. And a hard core of citys in the middel of my lands that acts as army produsers (and rebel breakers).

  7. Attila Says:

Well I generally ignore rebel, they reduce a little your income but it’s a price i can afford.

Not me, unlike you i dont get mony by piliging citys. So often when a city rebel i taket back, and if it is a large city i exterminate the popualace.
Then I earn a shitload of mony of the city ;) .

  9. Attila Says:

Yeah exterminating the population is indeed a really good way to make the city make a lot of money. :)

    b…b…but it so brutal :(

  11. Attila Says:

Well Charlemagne had trouble with the Saxon province of his empire, they rebelled against him, so the won against the rebellion. Then got back to his business.

The Saxony rebelled a second time, he came back and won against the rebel once again. Then went back to other duty.

The Saxon rebelled a third time. Once again, Charlemagne won against the rebels and he was so frustrated that he made 2000 Saxon nobleman executed in public during 2 days.

    The Saxony never rebelled again…

    Brutality sometime work…

  12. alf2142 Says:

hehe i Know, Brutality worked great. But now it can create a lot of anger, and then what do we get, an irak war (except history im also wery intrested in politics :) ). Of course ive wont drag politics into Dateyourgame so it stopps here ;) .

  13. Attila Says:

yeah, lets keep that game related, if we start looking at reality we will all depress…

  14. blaisejones Says:

how r u able to keep such little troops in ur cities? my ppl get so depressed and angry…its ok in the beginning of occupation when u exterminate them, but soon they rise up…low tax rates and constant building doesn’t seem to do anything…
